Alan Eagleson always said he never ran away from a fight, but he's running away from this one. As a U.S. grand jury formally accuses him of fraud and racketeering, The Eagle flies the coop, hopping a plane to Canada. He won't turn himself in to American authorities, and an ugly extradition battle looms. In this clip, lawyer Brian Greenspan says he won't allow his client to submit to a "trial by ambush."

Alan Eagleson is resigning from hockey's holy shrine, just days before a possible expulsion. Some of the game's greatest stars, including Bobby Orr, Gordie Howe and Brad Park, had threatened to leave the Hockey Hall of Fame if Eagleson remained a member. Faced with an impending vote on his removal, the disgraced Eagleson resigns voluntarily. As we see in this clip, for many the day is bittersweet.
