The Rupert C. Thompson Arena is one of the nation's finest multi-sports facilities. Construction of the Arena began in 1973, and the first hockey game was held in November, 1975, when Dartmouth and the United States Olympic team skated to a 3-3 tie.

Visit the Ham Arena in Conway for public ice skating, ice hockey programs, and dedicated figure skating practice for children and adults. The Ham Arena also features a pro shop stocked with hockey equipment, an on-site pizza and sandwich shop, and even a video games area.

Thompson Ice Arena is one of two Dartmouth sports facilities designed by the Italian structural engineer Pier Luigi Nervi, known popularly as the 'poet in concrete' in tribute to the buildings he designed for the Rome Olympics.
